Are you a swimmer ages 13–18 who is ready to take the next step in your swimming journey?

The Just Swim Junior Coach Development Program gives experienced young swimmers the opportunity to develop leadership, communication, mentoring, and coaching skills while giving back to the swimming community.

Junior Coaches work alongside Just Swim's experienced coaching staff and learn how to support younger swimmers through instruction, encouragement, demonstrations, drills, and positive mentorship. Participants will develop skills that extend beyond the pool - including teamwork, responsibility, communication, professionalism, and leadership.

What Junior Coaches Will Learn

• Student Leadership — Complete NFHS Learn's Becoming a Leader and Leading Others courses.

• Coaching & Instruction — Learn how to demonstrate swimming skills, teach drills, provide constructive feedback, and communicate technique.

• Mentorship — Learn how to work effectively with younger swimmers and become a positive role model.

• Professionalism — Develop communication, punctuality, teamwork, and professional on-deck habits.

• Safety & Responsibility — Learn appropriate pool deck awareness, equipment responsibilities, and how to recognize when a swimmer needs additional support.

• Leadership in Action — Progress from shadowing experienced coaches to assisting with drills, leading small groups, and taking on supervised Junior Coach responsibilities.

More Than Volunteer Hours

The Junior Coach Development Program is designed to provide a meaningful, documented leadership experience. Participants can earn volunteer service hours, receive program completion recognition, and build a leadership portfolio that can support future academic, scholarship, employment, and community service opportunities.

Junior Coaches aren't simply helping at practice...they are learning how to lead, teach, communicate, and make a difference in the lives of younger swimmers.
